20-year-old astrophotographer captures rare solar eclipse on Saturn

A 20-year-old astrophotographer from Shoreline, Washington has photographed a rare solar eclipse on Saturn from his hometown, an event that will not be seen again until 2038. The photographer, Adam Smadi, planned the image days ahead and took the image on June 1, using the Stellarium software to pinpoint when Saturn’s largest moon, Titan, would cast a shadow across the planet’s surface.

On July 2, Bangladesh defeated hosts Myanmar 2–1 in their second Group C match of the AFC Women's Asian Cup 2026 qualifiers at Thuwunna Stadium in Yangon, Myanmar. Ritu Porna Chakma scored both goals for Bangladesh, striking first in the 19th minute by converting a rebound after a free-kick, and adding a second in the 72nd minute with a solo effort from the edge of the box.

Kieren Daniel Mittelheuser, a 30-year-old man, has become the third person charged in connection with the alleged murder of teenager Phoebe Bishop. On Jun 1, at 7:00 p.m. (0900 UTC), he was arrested in Bundaberg West in the Australian state of Queensland and charged with two counts of accessory after the fact to murder.
