Solar Powered Aquaponics

For several years I've been thinking about building a solar powered aquaponics system in my greenhouse. This morning I discovered this video that features a solar powered aquaponics system. The hope and dream is alive and well.

In this video you see how a combination of solar panels can be configured to make the solar powered aquaponics system work autonomously. One solar panel works directly only during daylight hours driving a DC pump directly from the output of the solar panel that produces DC electricity. A second set of solar panels are used to charge a 12 volt marine lead acid battery through a solar charge controller. Also interesting, is the use of an Arduino computer controller to manage the process of turning pumps on and off at 5 and 10 minute intervals as configured or desired.
